HP discontinues web OS,touch pad

It was bizarre to see a company devoting so much time on a product and withdrawing that product from market without giving it time to see the response over a period of time. HP’s TouchPad tablet could have been taken forward with periodic release and when you are as big as HP, things aren’t impossible.

Whatever might be the case, the fate has been decided and announced. You can read the details in this separate post. Within a time-frame of less than 24 hours, after the announcement of HP to stop development to webOS, Best Buy and Future Shop announced the availability of 16GB TouchPad for $99 and 32GB edition for $149. The deal was tempting, but didn’t made any sense when you don’t have any support or apps to increase your productivity around an OS which isn’t living it’s last days but instead dead.

Another bizarre event was seeing popping up of a white TouchPad at HP’s site for $600 at HP’s site, just after the announcement of HP to stop development to webOS. The prices were going down big time and seeing the above announcement to stop development of webOS was little confusing for everyone.

Now, Best Buy has listed the device as out of stock, meaning it isn’t going to sell the device at slashed prices and the pilled stocks are being returned to HP. The decision comes either in wake of low demand or low margins of profit and is only known to BestBuy.

There were users who are fuming after buying the device on launch for a very hefty price. If you happen to be one of them, just give a call to HP and they are promising you to refund the amount.
